1972 Belgian Grand Prix
The images in this collection document the 1972 Belgian Grand Prix, a Formula One motor race held near Brussels at the Nivelles-Baulers circuit on June 4, 1972. The Belgian Grand Prix was the fifth race of the 1972 Formula One season. The race was 85 laps; 65,000 people were in attendance. The track was short, flat, and technically safe, which the spectators found dull. The race was won by Lotus driver Emerson Fittipaldi from Brazil. Fittipaldi also won the pole position. François Cevert from France finished second for the Tyrrell team and McLaren driver Denny Hulme from New Zealand came in third. The fastest lap was held by Chris Amon on lap 66 with his Mantra.
