Anna L. Heafner, Eunice "Dolly" Hickman, and Maude Pratt were interviewed in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Heafner was a 73-year-old at the time of interview. She was born in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Mrs. Hickman was a 74-year-old woman at the time of interview. She was born in Steele Creek, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was employed as a science teacher at Fort Mill schools, Charlotte City schools, and at Charlotte Country Day School for 25 years. Maude Pratt was a 73-year-old woman at the time of interview. She was born in Steele Creek, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was employed as a fifth grade teacher at Steele Creek Elementary School for over three decades.

Anna L. Heafner, Eunice "Dolly" Hickman, and Maude Pratt describe their experiences playing basketball in the Steele Creek area of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina (now part of Charlotte) during the 1930s. They talk about how many of the girls who played high school basketball were athletic from farm work, playing games in the gymnasium, and broad community support for the school team.
