Brenda Shue, Executive Assistant to UNC Charlotte's Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, talks about the events of April 30, 2019 and her role in the University's response to the tragedy. She begins the interview discussing her efforts to get Chancellor Dubois back to Charlotte in the immediate aftermath of the shooting because he was en route to Indianapolis, Indiana for a meeting. She then talks about her role as liaison between the Chancellor's Office and the families of the two slain students, Reed Parlier and Riley Howell. In addition to keeping the families informed, she was also able to arrange a private meeting for both families to meet prior to spring commencement. Ms. Shue concludes the interview thanking Brian Peck and Mark Colone from the Division of University Advancement for their logistical assistance to the Parlier and Howell families at spring commencement.
